They won the 2018 state championship and now the four Bobcats will continue their college careers together.
Jaheim Mitchell, Deon Ardoin, Simeon Ardoin and Kevontdraay Savoy all signed a national letter of intent on Wednesday to play football at Louisiana College in Pineville.
“They are a special group that is going to be missed,” Eunice High head coach Andre Vige said of the seniors. “They put in the hard work that showed as their four years collectively may be the best four years in EHS history.”
Vige said he is excited for the players who are going to be able to play at the next level.
“You want to see your successful players move on,” he said. “Every kid dreams of being a college football player.
“They wanted the opportunity and that’s all you can ask for,” Vige said. “It’s great for these guys as well as motivation for our younger players.”
After a 5-6 finish in 2017, the Bobcat senior group went 28-8 in the next three years including a 13-2 run to the 2018 Class 3-A state championship.
The 2020 season delayed by the LHSAA until October and shortened to just eight games.
The Bobcats missed two games because of COVID-19 issues, but captured the District 4-4A title and advanced to the state quarterfinals.
Deon Ardoin will continue his career at running back with the Wildcats.
“It is a blessing,” Deon Ardoin said. “I am excited that I have the chance to keep playing.”
Deon Ardoin finished as the Bobcats’ top career rusher with 3,434 yards and 40 touchdowns.
“The whole season I didn’t even know I was that close,” the running back said. “I just ran the ball.”
Twin brother Simeon Ardoin will switch from quarterback to running back or the defensive secondary at LC.
Simeon Ardoin’s EHS career stats included 2,551 passing yards and 36 touchdowns.
He rushed for 1,049 Yards and 16 touchdowns.”
“I looking forward to playing ball for the next two years and hopefully move up to a bigger school.’
Kevontraay Savoy are finished with 121 total tackles, 19 tackles for loss, nine sacks and two forced fumbles.
“I want to keep making plays like I did in high school,” Savoy said. “Any position they want me to play, I’ll play it.”
Jaheim Mitchell finished with 113 total tackles, two fumble recoveries, five forced fumbles and five interceptions.
“I want to see what I can do against other college players,” Mitchell said. “I am glad LC offered me the opportunity to play for them.”
