LSU Eunice mourns the loss of incoming softball student-athlete, Jaycee Carter. Carter passed away unexpectedly late Thursday evening.
“We are all in shock and completely devastated,” said head coach Andy Lee. “We are heartbroken for her sister, Carlee, and her family and ask the entire LSUE family keep Jaycee’s family in their prayers.”
Carter was a softball standout at Montgomery High in Montgomery where she signed a letter of intent to play at LSUE beginning this fall. The catcher led her team to the State Tournament the last three years, and recently participated in the LHSCA All-Star Game.
She and her twin sister, Carlee, signed with LSUE last month to play softball.
“Jaycee was a kind person and talented athlete,” Lee added. “I enjoyed being around her and her family during the recruitment process, and I hurt for all of those effected by her passing.””
Visitation was at 4 p.m. Monday at Verda Church of Christ in Atlanta. Funeral services were scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Verda Church of Christ.
