Wear comfortable shoes, drink lots of coffee, and bring spending cash, because this is the weekend to shop.
The 21st annual Noel on the Prairie, a holiday shopping spree, is set for Saturday and Sunday. I think I may have only missed one or two Noel on the Prairie weekends in the past.
There will be over 30 shopping spots to stop at, with some businesses offering discounts, sales, door prizes and refreshments.
On Saturday, Noel will be held from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and some stores will be open on Sunday from noon until 4 p.m.
I enjoy shopping Noel every year, and my shopping crew has grown from year’s past.
One of my daughters is always on board for Noel. She actually starts planning this shopping trip as early as September! I also have friends and some of her friends that have joined us and now are planning to shop with us on Saturday. I don’t mind at all, and as I like to say, “The More the Merrier.”
My daughter Megan maps out our route to take from early morning, our first stop, until the very end, at our last stop. I venture to guess that our last stop will be close to 5 p.m. Our very first stop is always at Cafe Mosaic to have coffee.
I normally try to purchase Christmas gifts for some family members. However, in the past Noels I bought something for myself.
Megan doesn’t like to waste any time other than shopping. We usually pick up a fast-food lunch and don’t waste time by dining inside a restaurant.
If you cannot make Noel on the Prairie this year, I would like to encourage you to do all your holiday shopping in town. I believe in keeping it local.
