EDITOR’S NOTE: This is the 10th in the series previewing the 2018 football season.
After nine games of facing tough and tougher teams, the Tigers and Cajuns could finally get a chance at an “easier win” on Nov. 10.
LSU is traveling to Arkansas, while the Cajuns enertain Georgia State.
Arkansas is predicted to finish last in the SEC West under new head coach Chad Morris.
The Razorbacks quarterback battle will be between Ty Storey and Cole Kelley as Morris brought the spread offense with him from Southern Methodist.
It might have been better had LSU faced the Hogs earlier in the season, but the Tigers are the better team and should grab the win (57.9 perent chance of a victory).
Running back Devwah Whaley (127 carries for 559 yards, 7 touchdowns) is back along with talented receivers Jordan Jones, De’Vion Warren, Jared Cornelius and La’Michael Pettway.
The Arkansas defense needs major improvement and Morris brought in John Chavis - who has spent time at Tennessee, LSU and Texas A&M.
Time will tell how the Hogs will progress this season, but the Tigers should expect Arkansas’ best effort.
For the Cajuns, a win in November would help the morale after tough games most of the season.
The experts put Louisiana at best – a three win season – and a 48.4 percent chance of a win over the Panthers.
Georgia State went 7-5 last season and went to a bowl for the first time in program history but this year the run could be more difficult.
Heading into the season, there are questions at quarterback and running back plus the defense is returning just five starters.
Other games of interest on Nov. 10 include UL Monroe at South Alabama, Rice at Louisiana Tech, East Carolina at Tulane, Grambling at Alabama A&M, Stephen F. Austin at Nicholls State, Arkansas Pine Bluff at Southern and the annual rivalry game: McNeese at Northwestern State.
