St. Landry Parish School System sets June graduation ceremony dates

The St. Landry Parish School System announced Tuesday that it has rescheduled high school graduations ceremonies to take place June 19 and 20.
“These dates are subject to change due to social distancing guidelines and the governor’s orders. Locations and times of graduations will be announced at a later date,” the announcement stated.
The decision to have traditional in-person ceremonies is contingent upon the orders of federal, state, and local governmental entities, it stated.

Shelly Miller Romaine, left, and daughter, Leah Romaine, both graduated from LSU Eunice at the university’s fall commencement ceremonies Friday. The two finished with a summa cum laude honors and with a certificate of technical studies in accounting technology: account clerk. Shelly started the program first and then Leah joined her shortly afterwards. Both plan to use the certificate to help them in their careers. LSUE grad Burney explains 4 fundamentals

LSUE commencement speaker Pete Burney offered what he called “a few nuggets” for the graduates-to-be at Friday’s ceremony in which 109 degrees were awarded.
Burney, an LSUE graduate and Eunice native, took about a dozen minutes to impart some life advice on focus, discipline, results and relationships, which he called “FDR squared.”
Burney retired from Hallmark Cards this year after 25 years with the company famous for its greeting cards. He was senior vice president of supply chain and business establishment and a corporate officer from 2009 to 2016.
