The Notre Dame Lady Pios headline a list of six Acadia Parish volleyball teams to earn a postseason berth when the LHSAA released its 2018 playoff brackets Monday afternoon.
The Lady Pios earned the No. 2 seed in Division IV and will entertain No. 31 M.L. King Charter in the opening round Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Notre Dame finished the regular season with a 31-14 record while M.L. King Charter comes in at 12-7.
A victory by the Lady Pios would likely put them in the regional round on Friday against either No. 15 St. Thomas Aquinas (19-14) or No. 18 Patterson (14-7).
If the seedings hold true, the Lady Pios would meet up with No. 7 John Curtis (21-13) in the quarterfinals and No. 3 University Lab (37-9) in the semifinals.
Archbishop Hannan (35-6) is the No. 1 seed in Division IV and is on the other side of the bracket along with No. 4 seed and defending state champion Pope John Paul II.
Rayne is the second highest seed in the parish, coming in at No. 9 in Division III. The Lady Wolves (20-16) will entertain No. 24 Springfield (8-15) today at 5 p.m. A victory would pit the Lady Wolves against either No. 8 Ursuline (22-20) or No. 25 West Feliciana (11-20) on Friday in the regional round.
Iota (20-21) drew the No. 12 seed and will host district rival and No. 21 seed Church Point (16-13).
As of press time, the date and time of that game was not agreed upon by the schools.
The two teams split their district series this year with each winning on their respective home courts. They met again in tournament play with Iota winning.
The winner will take on either No. No. 5 Westlake (28-7 or No. 28 Leesville (9-19) in the regional round.
Crowley High (16-13) earned the No. 20 seed and will travel to No. 13 Lutcher (12-16) Wednesday at 5 p.m.
The winner of that matchup will take on either No. 4 De La Salle (23-11) or No. 29 Northwest (10-10) Friday with a berth to the state tourney on the line.
Vandebilt Catholic is the No. 1 seed in Division III and is in the top half of the bracket along with the four Acadia Parish Schools.
The sixth and final team to earn a berth is Northside Christian, who is the No. 21 seed in Division V.
The Lady Warriors (14-14) will travel to No. 12 Ascension Catholic Wednesday for a 5 p.m. bi-district tilt.
Should the Lady Warriors advance, they will likely get No. 5 Dunham (32-6) in the regional round.
