All-District 4-1A girls team released

Five St. Edmund Lady Jays earned a spot on the 2019 All-District 4-1A basketball team.
The Elton Lady Indians cruised undefeated to earn the district title with Vici Woods named MVP and Roland Lacombe named District Coach of the Year.
No. 3 Elton (30-3) defeated Delhi 51-44 for the Class 1-A state title.
Elton’s Summer Ceasar also earned a spot on the All-District first team.
No. 10 Grand Lake (23-10) earned a 69-33 win over Kentwood to open the playoffs before falling to West St. John, 42-39.
Grand Lake’s Josie Ogea and Kailey Murrell were also named to the All-District first team.
Merryville’s Maddie Mahfouz earned the final first team All-District spot.
The No. 14 Lady Panthers (18-13) opened the playoffs with a 49-44 win over Lincoln Prep before losing to disrict rival Elton, 58-30.
Elton twin sisters Jameica and Jamaica James were named to the All-District second team along Macie Montie from Grand Lake and Merryville’s Alyssa Duncan.
Basile’s Lainey Soileau was also named to the second team.
The No. 21 Lady Bearcats (16-16) fell 73-24 to Jonesboro-Hodge in the first round of he Class 1-A playoffs.
Five St. Edmund Lady Jays earned honorable mention selections including Mary Beth Lafleur, Kinsley Marcantel, Savannah DeVillier, Jill Simpson and Rebecca Benoit.
No. 16 St. Ed’s (11-18) earned a 45-32 win over rival Sacred Heart of Ville Platte in the opening round of the Division IV playoffs before falling to eventual state champions Lafayette Christian Academy 85-28 in the regionals.
Other honorable mention selections included Elton’s Maycie Fuselier, Marlee Thibodeaux ad Brynn Hardie from South Cameron along with Merryville’s Ariana Victor.
