Blue Jays crush Oberlin, 13-5

The Blue Jays exploded for eight runs in the first inning as St. Edmund rolled to 13-5 District 4-1A win over Oberlin.
Payton Marcantel singled and scored on a hit by Brock Bieber.
Jack Miller singled and scored on an error.
Bieber also scored on a Tiger error, while Lance Miller singled and crossed home plate when Kaden Fontenot drew a bases-loaded walk.
Bryce Vidrine was hit by a pitch, Will Turk reached on a fielder’s choice and Marcantel cleared the bases with a line-drive dpuble to centerfield.
Oberlin scored twice in the top of the second to close the gap to 8-2 but the Jays responded with two more runs in the bottom of the third frame.
Fontenot and Marcantel singled, while Jack Miller walked to load the bases.
Bieber was hit by a pitch to plate Fontenot, while Marcantel scored on a fly out by Dawson Ardoin as the Jays pushed ahead, 10-2.
Will Turk walked in the bottom of the fourth and later scored on a Tiger error.
Oberlin scored three runs in the sixth inning to make the game interesting, but St. Edmund added a two insurance runs in the bottom of the inning.
Turk walked and scored on an error, while Vidrine singled and pinch runner Brown scored on a hit by Marcantel.
Brad Miller got the win as he allowed five runs on five hits with eight strikeouts over 5.2 innings.
Marcantel went 4-for-5 with four RBI and two run scored.
Jack Miller went 2-for-3 with two walks, a RBI and a run scored.
Lance Miller went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Kaden Fontenot went 1-fo-3 with a walk, a RBI, two runs scored and two steals.
St. Edmund (13-14, 5-1) travels to Grand Lake (12-8, 5-0) for a key district game at 5 p.m. Tuesday before entertaining South Cameron (2-11. 1-4) on Thursday.

Mamou 9, CPHS 1
MAMOU – The Lady Demons broke the game open with six runs in the fifth as Mamou earned a 9-1 win over Church Point.
The Lady Bears stook a 1-0 lead when Madison Patin singled and scored on a ground-out by Hannah Stanford.
Mamout tied the game in the bottom of the second when Taylor Douget walked and courtesy runner Kelsie Landreneau scored on a hit by Sophia Fritz.
The Lady Demons grabbed a 2-1 advantage in the bottom of the third when Angel Menier singled and scored on a ground-out by Douget.
Mamou’s six-run explosion in the bottom of the fifth inning was highlighted by steal of home by Landreneau and a RBI double by Angel Menier.
The Lady Demons added a run in the bottom of the zixth when Emily Soileau reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on a double by Douget.
Dacia Richard earned the complete game win as she limited Church Point to one hit with eight strikeouts and a walk.
The Lady Demons finished with eight hits as Douget went 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI, while Fritz went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
Angel Menier finished 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored as Richard went 2-for-4 to help her own cause.
Mamou (16-13, 7-6) finishes the district slate at Northwest on Tuesday, while Church Point (6-19, 4-9) closes the district season at Port Barre.

Pine Prairie 6, Iota 2
IOTA – The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 6-0 lead as Pine Prairie held on for a 6-2 win over Iota in District 5-3A play.
After a scoreless first inning, Pine Prairie pushed across three runs in the top of the second whenKailey Soileau reached on a fielder’s choice, Kaityln Robinson advanced on an error and Jacie McFarlain blasted a home run over the left field fence.
The Lady Panthers added three more runs in the top of the third, begun when Abby Fontenot reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on a hit by Allie Fontenot.
Robison later drove in Brianna Wall and Fontenot for a 6-0 Lady Panther advantage.
Iota rallied for two runs in the bottom of the fifth when Amelie Armand and Makenzie Droddy both walked and scored on a double by Peyton DuBose.
Karli Ortego earned the complete game win for the Lady Panthers as she allowed two earned runs on five hits with 10 strikeouts and four walks.
McFarlain went 3-for-3 with a walk, three RBI and a run scored to lead Pine Prairie.
Robinson went 1-for-2 with two RBI and run scored.
Abby Fontenot went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Dixie Guidry went 2-for-3 to lead Iota.
Pine Prairie (26-6, 11-1) will take on Crowley 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for the District 5-3A championship.
Iota (18-8, 10-2) entertains Northside Christian at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
