Blue Jays grab wins in tourney

St. Edmund earned two wins in the Rosepine baseball tournament as the Blue Jays improved to 6-2 on the season.
St. Ed’s pitchers Lance Miller Brice Vidrine two pitchers teamed up to a throw a no-hitter in St Ed’s 10-0 win over Oakdale to begin the tournament.
Miller threw three innings with two strikeouts and a walk, while Vidrine closed the final two innings with four strikeouts and two walks.
St. Edmund jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, begun when Carter Lejeune reached on an error then stole both second and third base before crossing home plate on another Oakdale miscue.
Jack Miller singled and scored on hit by Brock Bieber as SEH led, 2-0.
The Blue Jays added two more runs in the bottom of the second frame as Lance Miller reached on an error and pinch runner Wesley Driggs scored when Lejeune got on a base with fielder’s choice.
St. Ed’s pushed ahead 8-0 with four more runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Payton Marcantel walked to begin the rally, stole both second and third before scoring a sacrifice by Brad Miller.
Dawson Ardoin reached on an error, stole second and scored on a double by Brice Vidrine.
Will Turk walked and Lejeune was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Courtesy runner Jack Parks scored when Jack Miller drew another walk, while Brock Bieber also walked to plate Turk for an 8-0 Blue Jay lead.
St. Edmund sealed the mercy-rule win with two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Turk reached on a fielder’s choice, Lejeune singled and both scored on a hit by Jack Miller.
Lejeune went 3-for-3 with a RBI and three runs scored, while Jack Miller finshed 1-for-3 with a walk and five RBI to lead the Blue Jay hitters.

SEH 9, Bunkie 4
The Blue Jays exploded for five runs in the top of the seventh inning to seal a 9-4 win over Bunkie.
After a scoreless first frame, the Blue Jays scored three runs in the top of the second inning.
Bryce Vidrine singled and and scored when Turk singled.
Lance Miller walked and then Lejeune singled in both Miller and Turk for a 3-0 advamtage.
Bunkie exploded for four runs in the bottom of the third to grab a one run advantage.
The Blue Jays tied the game in the top of the sixth when Ardoin reached on an error and scored on another Panther miscue.
St. Edmund sealed the win with five runs in the top of the seventh, begun when Jack Miller tripled and Brock Bieber blasted a home run over the centerfield fence.
Marcantel singled, while Brad Miller and Ardoin were hit by pitched to load the bases.
Vidrine singled in Brad Miller, while Ardoin scored on a hit by Lejeune.
Brad Miller piched five inning and allowed four runs on 11 hits with two strikeouts and a walk.
Remi Guillory threw two no hit innings and struck out two batters.
Bieber went 3-for-4 with two RBI to lead the Jays.
Jack Miller,Marcantel and Vidrine and Turk all went 2-for-4.

Erath 9, St. Ed’s 1
The Blue Jays finished the Rosepine tournament with a 9-1 loss to Erath.
The Bobcats exploded for five runs in the top of the third and then added two more in the top of the fifth.
St. Ed’s closed the gap to 7-1 in the bottom of the sixth when Jack Miller wa hit by a pitch and later scored on Marcantel’s mishandled bunt.
The Bobcats added two more runs int eh top of the seventh inning to seal the 9-1 victory.
Matt Domingue was the winning pitcher for the Bobcats as he allowed three hits and one run over six innings, striking out six.
Matt Richard threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Brock Bieber took the loss for St. Edmund as he allowed three hits and five runs with four walks and one strikeout.
Garrett Dubois threw three innings and allowed two runs on four hits with four walks and two strikeouts.
Lejeune, Brad Miller, Lance Miller and Turk each collected one hit for the Blue Jays.
Domingue went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Erath.
