Bobcats down Rayne, 10-5

The Eunice Bobcats captured a 10-5 decision over the Rayne Wolves in Metro League action Tuesday at Bobcat Field.
Rayne scored two runs in the top of the first inning against Eunice starting pitcher Jessi Linch, but the Cats tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Austin Phillips drew a walk for the Cats and Grant Fontenot was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.
Phillips stole third base and scored when Tyler Darbonne grounded into a fielders’ choice.
Darbonne stole second base and later scored when Jaydon Brasseaux reached safely on an error.
The Wolves regained the lead in the top of the second inning, but the Cats scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-3 lead.
Deontae Gallow got the second inning started for the Cats when he reached on an error. He advanced to second on a bunt by Linch.
Phillips singled to score Gallow, Darbonne was hit by a pitch and Josh Youngblood doubled to bring in two runs for a 5-3 lead.
Linch shutout the Wolves in the third and fourth innings but gave up a run in the fifth to cut the lead to 5-4.
Eunice scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to go up 8-4.
Ian George singled and went to second on an error. John Christian LeJeune singled to score the first run of the inning. Linch reached first after being hit by a pitch and Phillips reached base on an error.
Darbonne drove in the third run of the inning with a single.
After Rayne scored its fifth run in the top of the sixth, the Cats responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Brasseaux and George drew walks to open the inning and both advanced on a wild pitch. LeJeune and Gallow each hit sacrfice flies to give the Bobcats a 10-5 lead.
Linch earned the mound victory with five innings of work.
He gave up two earned runs, walked one, and struck out three. Luke Andrepont and Darbonne each pitched an inning to close out the game.
In play last weekend at the Erath Tournament, the Bobcats tied Erath 3-3, lost 6-3 to Vermilion Catholic, and defeated Minden Prep by a 6-1 margin.
