Bobcats fall to Rebels

LAFAYETTE – The Eunice Bobcats traveled to Teurlings Catholic for a non-district game on Tuesday night and the Rebels grabbed a 52-39 win.
The Rebels began the scoring in the first quarter with buckets from Dylan Guidry and a free-throw from Caleb Thomas.
The Bobcats answered with baskets from Dedrick Vigers and Shaun Hudson.
Fred Guillory also added a layup.
Teurlings continued with Thomas making a layup, and two-pointers from Colin Sinitiere and Matthew Marceaux, giving the Rebels the lead at 11-10 at the end of the first quarter.
The Rebels started off the second quarter included a pair of free-throws by Jacob Broussard and a free-throw from Marceaux.
The Bobcats responded with free-throws by Terrance Shilow and Fred Guillory. Vigers also added with a pair of layups.
Teurlings answered back as Noah Fontenot tacked on tow layups, and Julian Guy would drain a three-pointer.
The score was set at 25-19 going into the half with Teurlings on top.
Coming off of a hot second quarter, Rebel’s Julian Guy would start off the third quarter with a pair of free-throws and Guidry made one free-throw.
Josiah Barber went off in the middle of the third quarter with two shots to stretch the lead for the rebels.
The Bobcats responded with Joseph Anderson knocking down two shots.
Guillory also nailed two shots and one free-throw.
Shaun Hudson drained a shot and two free-throws, but the Bobcats trailed at the end of the third quarter, 35-26.
Teurlings’ fourth quarter fire power came from Barber when he nailed three shots.
His teammates fed off of him including shots from Thomas, Broussard, and Sinitiere.
The Bobcats didn’t quit as Anderson and Guillory each nailed two shots.
Hudson added a layup and two free-throws, but it was too little too late for the Bobcats as they fell 52-39 at the final buzzer.
Top scorers for Teurlings (12-12) were Barber with 12 and Guy with 9 points.
The Bobcats top scorers included Anderson, Guillory, and Hudson with eight points each.
Eunice (2-15, 0-3) travels to North Vermilion (11-8, 1-3) Friday in a District 4-4A contest.
