The Eunice High Baseball team completed play in the DeRidder High Baseball Tournament with a 8-2 loss to Calvary Baptist and a 20-5 win over Leesville.
Calvary Baptist took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and extended their lead to 3-0 with a run in the third inning and added two runs in the fourth inning.
The Bobcats could never overcome the deficit as Cavalier starting pitcher, Blaine Rogers, held the Bobcats to single runs in the third and fourth innings on his way to a complete game victory.
The Bobcats managed a run in the third after Deondre reached on an error and later scored on a single by Luke Andrepont.
The Cats added a run in the fourth inning after Tyler Darbonne doubled to open the inning and scored when Grant Fontenot’s single resulted in a throwing error.
But Rogers would shut down the Cats over the final three innings to give the Cavaliers the 8-2 victory.
Andrepont and Austin Phillips joined Darbonne to lead the offense for the Bobcats.
Andrepont and Phillips had two hits apiece.
Darbonne started on the mound for the Cats and was relieved by Jayden Brasseaux and Phillips.
The Bobcats played at home in their tournament game against Leesville on Saturday.
Grant Fontenot opened the game with a scoreless first inning against the Wampus Cats and his teammates gave him the lead with three runs in the first two innings.
In the first inning, Phillips drew a walk, stole second base, and scored on a single by Josh Youngblood.
The Bobcats scored two runs in the second inning behind a bunt single by J.C. Lejeune, an error, three walks, two hit batters and a two-run single by Phillips.
The Wampus Cats scored two runs in the second inning thanks to an error and two walks before Fontenot induced two groundouts to end the inning.
The Bobcats added two runs in the second and pulled away from the Wampus Cats in the third inning when they took advantage of Leesville’s pitchers to throw strikes.
The Bobcats scored seven runs in the inning, sending 12 batters to the plate. Youngblood, Phillips, Jayden Brasseaux, and Ian George drove in runs for the Cats, who took a 10-3 lead.
Eunice High batters continued their assault against the pitching staff of the Wampus Cats in the fourth inning, adding ten runs as Bobcat coach Scott Phillips cleared his bench.
Leesville scored three runs in the fifth inning, but the ten-run rule ended the game as relief pitcher Seth Deshotel retired the side to end the game.
Fontenot claimed the mound victory for the Bobcats with four innings of work.
He gave up three hits and two runs to earn the win.
