Bobcats swat down Yellowjackets

The Eunice Bobcats took on the Kinder Yellowjackets in summer varsity vaseball action on Wednesday at Bobcat Field following a junior varsity contest between the two teams.
In the varsity game, the Yellow Jackets scored two runs in the top of the first inning to claim a 2-0 lead. The Bobcats answered in the bottom of the inning with Jahiem Mitchell leading off with a single. Zach Suire advanced Mitchell with a double and Braiden Rider walked to load the bases. Dylan Darbonne’s grounder scored Mitchell and Grant Fontenot drew a walk before Dylan Guillory singled to drive in a run to give the Cat a 4-2 lead.
Fontenot, the starting pitcher for the Bobcats, struck out the side in the top of the top of the second ining and the Bobcats scored five runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 9-2 lead. The Yellow Jackets scored three runs in the top of the third inning and added a single run in the top of the fourth to cut into the Bobcat lead. But the Bobcats scored four runs in the fourth inning to extend their lead to 14-7. A single by Suire and a double by Rider started the inning and Dylan Guillory’s single ended the inning.
Mitchell took over for Fontenot on the mound and worked two innings before Rider finished the game with one inning of work. The Cats put away the game in the sixth inning with three runs, with Mitchell’s single driving in a run and Dylan Darbonne completing the inning with a two-run triple to give the Cats the 17-7 victory.

JV Bobcats score win against the Bulldogs
The Eunice Bobcat Junior Varsity took on the Ville Platte Junior Varsity on June 11 at Bobcat Field as the summer schedule continues for both Junior Varsity and Varsity players.
The visiting Bulldogs took the early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning. The young Cats scored a run in the bottom of the first innng as Hayden Darbonne was hit by a pitch and Trey Soileau singled. Darbonne scored on a single by T-Luk Hudson to cut the lead to 3-1. The Cats scored their second run in the bottom of the second inning as Hudson Manuel walked and scored on a single by Brown. The Bulldogs scored a fourth run in the third inning , but the Cats managed to plate three runs in the bottom of the third to take a 5-0 lead. The Bulldogs were limited by Eunice pitching to one run in the fourth inning as the Cats managed to score three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to extend their lead to 8-5 as Evan Fruge opened the inning with a triple and Dru Phillips singled in Fruge to claim the 8-5 victory for the young Cats. Jaden Thomas contriuted two singles joining Fruge as top hitter for the Cats.
