The Church Point Bears rolled to a 32-7 win over Erath Thursday night in the Acadia – Vermilion Parish jamboree.
The Bears grabbed a 6-0 lead with 9:34 left in the first half on a nine-yard run by Gavin Richard.
Church Point scored on the opening drive of the second half when Breelyn Jones connected with Macyn Bertrand on a 61-yard pass.
Jones ran in the two-point conversion to push the Bears ahead, 14-0 with 14:35 left in the game.
Erath responded with its only score of the night when Jonathon Ngyen hauled in a 30-yard pass from Luke LeBlanc.
Colton Punch’s kick closed the gap to 14-7 with 12:57 remaining.
The Bears answered with a 34-yard touchdown run by Rodney Dupuis with 10:33 left in the game.
Church Point added a 31-yard scoring toss from Jones to Ian Meche with 9:26 remaining in the game.
Dupuis scored his second touchdown of the game on a 38-yard run with 3:12 left to seal the 32-7 win.
The Bears finished with 227 yards rushing, led by Dupuis’ 10-carry, 119-yard performance.
Tyrin McDade added 43 yards on six carries, while Jones had three carries for 35 yards.
Jones completed 3-of-4 passes for 106 yards and two scores.
Gavin Richard had 30 yards on seven carries for the Bears.
Church Point opens the regular season Friday at home against Jennings.
