Elton sweeps Blue Jays

ELTON –  The Elton Indians earned a sweep over St Edmund Thursday night in a non-district basketball doubleheader.

The Lady Indians rolled to a 50-26 win over the Lady Jays.

Elton jumped out to a 13-4 first quarter lead, helped by  six points from Jamica James.

Abby Miller and Maggie Larriviere each scored a basket for St. Edmund.

The Lady Indians kept its domination with a 12-3 second quarter run to move ahead 25-7 at the break.

Summer Ceaser had four points for Elton, while a trey from Gabby Fontenot accounted for the only Lady Jay points in the period.

Elton had a 16-8 third quarter surge, led by six points from both Jameica James and Jamaica James.

Kinsley Marcantel scored a bucket for the Lady Jays, while Fontenot and Camille Leger added three free throws each in the quarter.

St. Edmund closed the game with an 11-9 fourth-quarter advantage.

Abby Miller had four points to finish with six points on the night.

Larriviere pushed in a bucket for her four-point total.

Allison Lafleur chipped in three points, while Fontenot added a bucket to finish with eight points.

Elton’s Jamaica James added scored four points to finish with 16 points.

Jameica James finished with 14 points for the Lady Indians.

Elton 75, SEH 30

The Indians exploded for 49 first-half points as Elton cruised to a 75-30 win over the Blue Jays.

Derrick Finley scored 10 points, Keshawn Lyons pushed in eight points  and Keleb Guillory added six points to open the game for the Indians.

Alex Dupre scored seven points for the Blue Jays, while Austin Gradney added five points in the first quarter.

A 24-6 run in the second  quarter by the Indians put the game  out of reach at intermission.

Finley, Andre Williams  and Kamren Jackson all scored four points for the Indians, while Ethan John hit a trey in the period.

Christian Fontenot  scored two points for the Jays as William Manuel and Carter Andrus added a free throw.

Gradney’s shot at the buzzer closed the gap to 49-22.

Elton opened the second half with a 12-4 run, sparked by four points each from Finley and Jordan Mallett.

Gradney hit a bucket and Dupre added two free throws for the Jays in the third period.

Elton concluded the game with a 14-4 fourth quarter run, aided by 10 points from Lyons who finished with 24 points.

Finley finished with 16 points for the Indians.

Dupre and Gradney both  scored a bucket in the final period to finish with 11 points each.

After completing the Elton tournament this weekend, St. Edmund travels to  East Beauregard Tuesday.
