MAMOU – The Eunice High Lady Bobcats continued District 5-3A basketball action here Thursday with a 53-37 victory over the Mamou Lady Green Demons.
The Lady Bobcats captured a first quarter lead, outscoring Mamou 12-9, thanks to the scoring of Stacie White and Shania Malveaux.
White scored seven points and Malveaux added five for the Lady Bobcats.
Mamou’s Kazhanna Richard matched White’s first quarter scoring with seven points.
In the second quarter, both teams managed only eight points apiece, but the Lady Bobcats held a 20-17 halftime lead.
White led Eunice in the second quarter with six points and Jesslyn Reed chipped in with a field goal.
Brianna Thibodeaux scored four points for Mamou.
The Lady Bobcats took over the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Demons by a 19-6 margin to head into the fourth quarter with a 39-23 lead.
White led the third-quarter scoring for the Lady Bobcats with seven points, with Reed contributing a field goal.
The Lady Bobcats put the game away in the fourth quarter, with Leah Walker, Reed, and White scoring four points apiece.
Richard hit three goals from beyond the 3-point line and Thibodeaux added one three-point shot, but Mamou was unable to overcome their early deficit.
White led the Eunice scoring with 24 points.
Reed added 14 points, with Walker and Malveaux chipping in with six and five, respectively.
Richard topped the scoring for Mamou with 19 points.
Eunice (13-9, 4-5) will entertain district rival Church Point (9-12, 3-6) Tuesday.
Mamou 65, Eunice 39
The Green Demons jumped out to a 18-4 first quarter lead as Mamou rolled to a 65-39 win over the Eunice Bobcats.
Tammrick Thomas scored 10 points in the period for Mamou, while Tyrin Williams added six points.
Tim Jones and Fred Guillory scored the only Bobcat buckets in the first period.
The Green Demons (9-6, 6-2) outscored the Bobcats 16-9 in the second frame to take a 34-13 advantage into the locker room.
Thomas and Tralon Arvie each scored four points to spark the Demons.
Corneilus Lewis led the Bobcats with four points in the period, while Cleveland Ceasar and Jones both added a bucket and Kobe Doucet hit a free throw.
The game tightened up in the third period as Mamou outscored Eunice, 16-13.
Thomas continued his strong game for the Green Demons with six pointa in the quarter, while Nason Tinley and Williams each added four points.
Seven Bobcats scored in the third period as Jones, Doucet, Guiloory Deandre Courville, Harold Savoy, Trey Cooper all hit buckets and Isaiah Darby added a free throw.
Trailing 50-26 as the game moved to the final quarter, the Bobcats continued to battle, falling 14-13 in the period.
Ceaser led EHS with four points in the quarter, while Darby, Trey Cooper, Courville, Jones, Doucet and Kendrick Malveaux each scored for the Bobcats.
Thomas led Mamou with six points in the period to finish with 26 points on the night.
Williams chipped in 15 points, while Arvie, Tinley and Darius Tezeno each contributed six points for the Demons.
Jones led Eunice with eight points, while Ceasar added six points.
Eunice (4-17, 1-7) will entertain district rival Church Point (6-13, 0-7) Tuesday night.
