When the LHSAA executive committee voted last week to start the high school football season on Oct. 1, the schedules around the state had to be adjusted.
The LHSAA is allowing a scrimmage, but the season is limited to eight games with the teams starting against their original week three opponents.
Eunice High will scrimmage at Kaplan on Sept. 24.
The Bobcats finished the 2019 season with a 9-3 overall record, 4-1 in District 4-4A.
Eunice opened the 2019 playoffs with a 35-27 win over Plaquemine before falling 8-7 at Bastrop.
With games against Northwest and Jennings taken off the schedule, the Bobcats will open the season at home against Ville Platte (3-7) on Oct. 2.
Eunice will travel to Breaux Bridge (10-3) on Oct. 9 and visit Abbeville (1-9) on Oct 16.
The Bobcats will celebrate homecoming and the district opener against the Rayne Wolves (6-5) on Oct. 23.
Eunice is scheduled to travel to Washington-Marion (1-9) on Oct. 30 before returning home to take on Tioga (10-2) on Nov. 6.
The Bobcats entertain North Vermilion (5-6) on Nov. 13 before closing the regular season at LaGrange (4-5) on Nov. 20.
St. Edmund will entertain Vermilion Catholic in a scrimmage set for 6 p.m. on Sept. 25.
The Blue Jays finished the 2019 season 6-5 overall, 3-2 in District 5-1A falling to Southern Lab in the Division IV playoffs.
With the 2020 season shortened, the Blue Jays will not face Vinton or Bunkie this year.
St. Edmund will travel to Avoyelles (7-5) on Oct. 2 and then visit Highland Baptist (4-6) on Oct. 8.
The Blue Jays third road game in a row will be at Ville Platte on Oct. 15.
St. Edmund’s first home game is the district opener against Opelousas Catholic (9-1) on Oct. 23.
The Blue Jays will celebrate homecoming on Oct. 30 against North Central (1-9).
St. Ed’s will entertain rival Sacred Heart of Ville Platte (5-6) on Nov. 6.
The Blue Jays will travel to Westminster Christian Academy (5-5) on Nov. 13.
St. Edmund will close the regular season at home on Nov. 20 against Catholic High of Pointe Coupee (10-3).
Church Point will travel to Crowley for a scrimmage on Sept. 25.
The Bears finished the 2019 season with a 7-2 overall record, 5-0 in District 5-3A.
Church Point opened the 2019 playoffs with a 64-26 win over Frederick A. Douglass before a 14-14 loss to Jennings.
With games against Notre Dame and Southside removed from the schedule, the Bears open the 2020 season at Kaplan (6-4) on Oct. 2.
Church Point visits Opelousas (3-6) on Oct. 9 before entertaining St. Louis Catholic (7-2) on Oct. 16.
The Bears open District 5-3A play at Iota before entertaining Northwest (5-6) on Oct. 29.
Church Point hosts Ville Platte on Nov. 6 before traveling to Mamou on Nov. 13.
The Bears close out the regular season against Pine Prairie (0-10) on Nov. 19.
Iota will scrimmage at Rayne on Sept. 24 at 6 p.m.
The Bulldogs finished the 2019 season with an 9-3 overall record, 3-2 in district.
Iota opened the playoffs with a 32-22 win over Wossman before falling 18-13 at Baker.
With games against Iowa and Welsh removed from the schedule, Iota is set to open the season at Lake Arthur (5-6) on Oct. 2 and South Beauregard (2-8) on Oct. 9 before its first home game on Oct. 15 against North Vermilion.
Iota entertains Church Point for the district opener on Oct. 23.
A trip to Ville Platte on Oct. 30 is followed by a home game against Pine Prairie on Nov. 6.
The Bulldogs travel to Northwest on Nov. 13 before closing the regular season at home against Mamou on Nov. 20.
Mamou will scrimmage at Westminster Christian Academy on Sept. 25 with Jeanerette joining the scrimmage.
The Green Demons finished the 2019 season with a 4-6 overall record, 2-3 in district.
The games against Merryville and Basile will not be played this season.
Mamou will open at Bunkie (4-7) on Oct. 2.
A home game against Port Barre (4-6) on Oct. 9 is followed by a trip to Sacred Heart of Ville Platte (5-5) on Oct. 16.
Mamou will entertain Ville Platte in the District 5-3 A opener on Oct. 23.
A trip to Pine Prairie on Oct. 30 is followed by a home game against Northwest on Nov. 6.
Mamou will entertain Church Point on Nov. 13 before closing the regular season at Iota on Nov. 20.
Basile will travel to Merryville for a scrimmage on Sept. 24.
Basile finished the 2019 season 8-5 overall and advanced to the Class 1-A state quarterfinals.
With the eight-week schedule this season, Basile will not face Lake Arthur or Mamou this season.
The Bearcats will open the season against Sacred Heart on Oct. 2 before a scheduled district opener at Hamilton Christian (5-5) on Oct. 9.
Basile is set to entertain Grand Lake (7-5) on Oct. 16.
The Bearcats’ district rival Elton will not play football this season so Basile will have an open date on Oct. 23.
Basile will travel to East Beauregard (6-6) on Oct. 30.
The Bearcats will entertain Merryville (2-8) on Nov. 5.
Basile closes the regular season at Gueydan (6-6) on Nov. 13 and Oberlin (12-1) on Nov. 20.
