Iota advances to Class 3-A title game

SULPHUR – Iota pitcher Hunter Wriborg threw a complete game shut out as the Bulldogs earned a 3-0 win over Brusly Thursday in the LHSAA Class 3-A semifinals at McMurry Park in Sulphur.
The No. 3 Bulldogs were set to face No. 4 Berwick in the Class 3A title game on Saturday.
The Panthers stunned No. 1 Sterlington, 8-6 in the other 3-A semifinal.
Wriborg had a strong performance for the Bulldogs as he struck out 14 batters and allowed three hits and two walks.
Tyler Theriot was handed the loss as he went 6.2 innings, allowing ten hits and three runs while striking out three.
After two scoreless innings, Iota pushed a two runs across in the top of the third, begun when Andrew Ashby singled and scored on a sacrifice by Dakota Breaux.
Wriborg doubled and courtesy runner Chaynery Johnson scored on a single by Hunter Andrus.
The Bulldogs added an insurance run in the top of the third when Deven Mouton singled and scored on a sacrifice by Ashby.
Mouton finished 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Wriborg went 2-for-4.
Andrus went 2-for-3 with a walk and RBI for the Bulldogs.
Theriot went 2-for-4 to lead Brusly.
