Iota’s season ends in quarterfinals

LORANGER — Iota’s season ended in the Class 3-A quarterfinals the Loranger Lady Wolves rolling to a 59-35 victory.
No. 2 Loranger will play District rival No. 6 Albany at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Rapides Coliseum in Alexandria.
Albany defeated Northwest 56-41 to advance to the semifinals.
It will be the third time Albany (28-5) and Loranger (30-6) have met this season with the Lady Wolves winning both previous contests, 52-43 and 45-32.
Last season Albany pushed Iota out of the state semifinals in a 52-50 heartbreaker.
The Lady Wolves went on a 22-5 run in the first period, sparked hy nine points from Linsey Ard and six poimts by Jamya Mingo-Young.
Naomi Rasberry, Kendall Miller and Madeline Gatte scored for the Lady Bulldogs in the period.
Loranger outscored Iota 19-8 in the second period as the Lady Wolves held a 41-13 advantage at intermission.
Young led Loranger with 11 points in the quarter, while Ard chipped in five points.
Iota was led by a trey from Miller along with buckets from Gatte and Brooke Andrepont.
Loranger pushed its advantage to 53-19 by the end of the third quarter with a 12-6 run.
Sydney Rivers and Young both pushed in four points in the period.
Gatte scored four points for the Lady Dogs and Madison Oliver added a bucket in the frame.
Iota rallied for a 16-6 fourth quarter run to close the final margin to 24 points.
Gatte pushed in six points in the quarter to finish with 13 points.
Gatte also had six rebounds and three assists in the game.
Oliver scored five points to finish with seven points to go with 10 rebounds.
Miller added a bucket to close with seven points and five rebounds.
Rasberrry and Andrepont had four points each for the Lady Bulldogs.
Young scored once in the period to finish with 23 points.
Ard did not score in the second half but finished with 14 points,
Rivers scored once in the fourth quarter to finish with 10 points.
Iota closed the season with a 25-8 overall record.
