Kaplan High 3-peats as parish champs

The Kaplan Pirates and the Lady Pirates took care of business on Wednesday by sweeping the Vermilion Parish Track and Field Meet.
Each school won the meet by at least 20 points.
It is the third year in a row that both the Kaplan boys and girls win the track meet.
In the field events, Rylie Frick got 20 points for Kaplan after winning the discus and shot put. Frick was co-top field athlete on the night.
Things picked up for the Lady Pirates on the track.
Tori Riggs was a double winner, winning the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash for Kaplan. She was also an anchor on the winning 4x100 and 4x200 meter relays. Because of her great effort, she was voted the Outstanding Female Track Performer.
Kaplan’s Gabby Marceaux was a double winner, winning the 1600 and 3200 meter races.
In the boys, it was no match.
The Pirates were loaded in the field and on the track.
Quitlan Cobb and Daniel Poole. set the tone in the field events.
Cobb won the shot put and finished second in the javelin. Poole won the high jump and was third in the triple jump and long jump, earning him the Outstanding Male Field Athlete.
Kristopher Harrington also gave Kaplan 10 points by winning the pole vault.
Kaplan won two out of three relays.
The Pirates won the 4x200 and the 4x400 meter relays.
The Erath Bobcats dominated the long distance and short distance races.
Chandler LeBlanc won the 100- and 200 meter races for EHS.
Cameron Carpenter of EHS won the 1,600 and 3,200 meter races. He also finished second in the 800. His 28 points on the track earned him the Outstanding Track Performer.
His teammate, Ethan Suire, was named the Overall Outstanding Performer.
Suire won the 800, finished third in the 3200 and also competed in the long jump.
Traynae Walker of Erath was a double winner. She won the high jump (5-1) and ran a parish record time of 14.90 in the 100 meter hurdles. She broke her own time that she set last year.
