Lady Bulldogs claim Iota Relays team title

Chloe Smith and Rose Regan combined for 54 of Iota’s 130 points last week to help lead the Lady Bulldogs to the team title in the 2018 Iota Bulldog Relays.
Lake Arthur finished a distant second in the team standings with 60 points and Kinder was third with 56.
Church Point placed fifth with 52 points.
Smith was the overall Outstanding Performer after racking up 30 points on the track. She was a double winner with victories in the 1600-meter run (5:59.56) and the 3200 (13:10) and she placed second in the 800-meter run (2:36.87). She also teamed with Regan, Andriana Curtis and Hallie Stoma to clock a second-place time of 4:25.49 in the 4x400-meter relay.
Regan, who scored 24 points, was second in the 1600 (5:59.75) and the 300-meter hurdles (50.58) and she finshed third in the 800 (2:38.37).
Also grabbing top honors for the Lady Dogs were Abigail Fontenot in the 100-meter hurdles (15.92) and Madison Ardoin in the high jump (5-0).
Fontenot added a runnerup finish in the long jump (14-9 ¾)
Other third-place finishers included Lisa Fontenot in the shot put (28-4 ¾), Bethani Chesteman in the discus (78-3), Lindsay Jordan in the triple jump (31-1 ½), Kolby Regan in the javelin (94-0) and Sadie Zaunbrecher in the pole vault (6-6).
Boone scored a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 100 hurdles (18.47) and the 300 hurdles (55.75) and she also teamed with Curtis, Stoma and Jordan to place sixth in the 4x200 relay (1:57.43).
In addition, Ellen McDaniel was fifth in the 3200 (15:51), Haiden Vige was fifth in the shot put (27-5) and Jordan finished sixth in the long jump (13-10).
Church Point logged three victories on the day.
Olivia Bundy won the 300 hurdles (48.38) and also joined Jaliyah Richard, Monet Cormier and Elise Bundy to take top honors in the 4x100 relay (53.00). Madison Guillory also took top honors in the discus with a mark of 96-10.
On the boys side, Church Point scored 66 points to finish in a tie for second place along with Jennings.
Ville Platte claimed the team title with 70 points and host Iota was 10th with 29.
Breelyn Jones and Travon Wheeler did most of the scoring for the Bears.
Jones was a double winner in the 100 (11.00) and the 200 (22.02). Wheeler placed second in both events with a 11.19 in the 100 and a 23.03 in the 200.
The duo also teamed with Gavin Richard and Chad Hornsby to win both the 4x100 (43.37) and the 4x200 (1:30.72) relay events.
Hornsby was also third in the 400 (53.18).
Iota got a win in the 400 from Dylan Nelson (51.89) and Juan Rosales was second in the 800 (2:17.19). Rosales was also third in the 1600 (5:07.31).
Seth Bourque and Connor Braquet added fifth-place showings in the pole vault (8-6) and the javelin (135-11), respectively, and Dakell Thibodeaux was sixth in the 300 hurdles.
