Lady Jays grab crucial wins

The St. Edmund Lady Jays improved to 14-4 on the season and remained at the top of the District 4-1A standings with a 13-1 win over Grand Lake.
The first six Lady Jay batters scored as Jaedyn Soileau opened with a single, while Karleigh Soileau, Kinsley Marcantel and Mary Beth Lafleur followed with consecutive doubles.
Olivia Clark then tripled and Anna Belle Fontenot doubled before the first Lady Jay out of the inning.
Jaycee Cobb doubled and Jaedyn Soileau also doubled at her second at bat of the inning as the Lady Jays pushed ahead, 6-0.
St. Edmund added three more runs in the second inning as Marcantel doubled, Clark walked and Fontenot added a double.
Kennedy Ardoin doubled and Elizabeth McGee singled to complete the offensive production and a 9-0 Lady Jay lead.
Grand Lake (10-12, 2-4) avoided the shut out in the top of the third inning as Jordyn Stickell walked and scored on a triple by Kelli LeDoux.
The Lady Jays completed the mercy-rule win with four runs in the bottom of the fourth frame begun as Jaedyn Soileau singled, Fontenot doubled and both scored.
Ardoin and Cobb also singled and scored in the inning to extend the Lady Jays’ lead to 13-1.
Karleigh Solieau earned the win as she struck out 12, walked one and allowed one run on two hits.
Fontenot finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored, while Jaedyn Soileau went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
Ardoin and Cobbe both finished 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Marcantel went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Karleigh Soileau finished 2-for-4 with a run scored.
The Lady Jays are scheduled to face South Cameron at 4 p.m. today for Senior Day.

St. Ed’s 10, NCA 3
CROWLEY – Northside Christian jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but St. Edmund rallied to earn an 10-2 win over the Lady Warriors.
Northside opened the game with two runs in the bottom of the first when Brileigh Newman walked and Angel Allen homered over the left field fence.
The Lady Jays tied the game in the fourth inning, begun when Clark reached on a fielder’s choice, Ardoin walked and both scored on a double by Cobb.
St. Edmund exploded for four runs in the top of the fifth, begun Karleigh Soileau singled and scored on hit by Fontenot.
Lafleur singled and Ardoin belted a home to left field.
Marcantel blasted a home run in the top of the sixth to push the Lady Jays ahead, 7-2.
The Lady Warriors scored a run in the bottom of the frame when Allen walked and crossed home plate on a sacrifice by Kate Daigle.
St. Edmund added three insurance runs in the top of the seventh, begun when Fontenot singled and scored on a hit by Rebecca Benoit.
Cobb singled and Jaedyn Soileau’s hit pushed in Cobb and Benoit for a 10-3 advantage.
Karleigh Soileau earned the complete game win as she allowed three runs on three hits with nine strikeouts and two walks.
Fontenot went 3-for-3 and C obb went 3-for-4 for the Lady Jays.
Benoit finished 2-for-3 with a walk and Jaedyn Soileau finished 2-for-5.
