Lady Jays roll in tourney

St. Edmund won all three games in the Lady Jay Invitational softball tournament.
The Lady Jays battled Eunice for an 11-8 win before rolling to a pair of 11-0 wins over Gueydan and Centerville.
St. Edmund trailed 6-5 in the top of the seventh inning when Gabby Fontenot singled and scored on a double by Maggie Larriviere.
Kinsley Marcantel singled and Karleigh Solieau later singled in two runs to push the Lady Jays ahead, 7-6.
Abby Miller singled and scored when Jamie Fuselier reached on an error.
Olivia McDaniel and Jaedyn Soileau both walked to keep the rally going.
Fuselier scored on Fontenot’s fly out, while pinch runner Mary Miller stole home and Katelyn LaCour also scored on a single by Marcantel.
Eunice rallied for two runs in the bottom of the inning, begun when Cassie Thomas singled and scored on a double by Jesslyn Reed.
Reed scored on a two-out double by Olivia Thibdeaux to close the margin to 11-8.
The Lady Jays scored first when Gabby Fontenot singled and crossed home plate on a double by Kinsley Marcantel.
Eunice tied the game in the bottom of the inning as McKenzie Guillory doubled and scored on a Lady Jay error.
St. Edmund retook a 2-1 lead in the top of the second when Abby Miller singled and scored on a ground out by Jamie Fuselier.
Eunice responded with with two runs in the bottom of the inning as Cassie Thomas walked, Nicole Vidrine walked and both on Olivia Thibodeaux’s double.
The Lady Jays tied gthe game 3-3 in the top of the third when Fontenot singled and scored on a hit by Maggie Larriviere.
Eunice moved ahead in the bottom of the fourth frame when Thibodeaux singled and scored on a double by Hailey Sonnier.
St. Edmund tied the game again in the top of the sixth inning when Karleigh Soileau doubled and scored on Anna Belle Fontenot’s ground out.
Eunice scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to retake the lead as Guillory singled and Sonnier followed with a home run over the left field fence.
Maggie Larriviere earned the win as she allowed five runs on 11 hits, striking out seven and walking one.
Karleigh Solieau started the Lady Jays and allowed three hits and three runs while striking out five and walking one over two innings.
Jailyn Pavich suffered the loss as she allowed 15 hits and 11 runs.
Marcantel went 4-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored, while Gabby Fontenot finished 3-for-4 with a RBI and three runs scored.
Thibodeaux went 4-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored to lead Eunice, while Cassie Thomas finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

SEH 11, Gueydan 0
Lady Jay pitcher Karleigh Solieau allowed just four hits and the St. Edmund offense exploded for six runs in the fourth inning to seal the 11-0 win.
Soileau struck out six in the shutout win.
Gabby Fontenot went 2-for-3 with a walk, a RBI and three runs scored, while Kinsley Marcantel went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
Anna Belle Fontenot finished 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Olivia Clark went 1-for-3 including a three RBI double.
Rebekah Leprete suffered the loss as she allowed 11 runs on 12 hits over four innings.
Ashari Terry went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Gueydan in hits.

SEH 11, CHS 0
St. Edmund pitchers Larriviere and Karleigh Soileau combined for a three-hit shutout as the Lady Jays earned an 11-0 win over Centerville.
After taking a 5-0 advantage, the Lady Jays sealed the win with a six run explosion in the fourth inning.
Larriviere allowed two hits over four innings, striking out two.
Soileau went one inning with a strike out and one hit allowed.
Chelsi Herbert suffered the loss as she allowed 14 hits and 11 runs over five innings, striking out two.
Miller went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Marcantel finished 3-for-4 with a run scored.
Mary Beth Lafleur went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored.
Larriviere went 1-for-1 with two walks, two RBI and three runs scored.
Rylie Candella went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Centerville.
