LaGrange sweeps Eunice
It was a fight to the finish as the LaGrange Gators earned a 57-50 District 4-4A win over the Eunice Bobcats.
LaGrange’s Darrel Washington had the hot hand early as he scored the game’s first 11 points including four two-pointers and three free-throws.
The Bobcats responded with 11 points, sparked with a 3-pointer from Dedrick Vigers, while Shaun Hudson converted a three-point play and Rondrelyn Mitchell sank a layup.
Bryson Poullard also knocked down a trey as the Bobcats forced an 11-11 tie to end the first quarter.
LaGrange’s Washington made four two pointers along with a lay up from Antoine Scott, who added four free-throws as the Gators’ offense continued to push in points.
The Bobcats moved the ball around as Vigers nailed a three-pointer and a free-throw.
Terance Shilow contributed with a layup of his own, as did Mitchell.
To close the quarter, Clement Joseph nailed the triple as LaGrange held a 29-24 lead at the break.
The Gators opened the third period strong with three-pointers from Jaden Johnson and Chris Willis.
Kareem Ceaser and Washington added buckets to the Gators’ lead.
Vigers helped the Bobcats with two buckets and three free-throws.
Shilow also made a layup with a free-throw.
Mitchell kept scoring with another bucket as the Bobcats battled to keep the game close.
LaGrange had a 43-36 lead as the game moved to the fourth quarter.
The Gators’ Johnson started off the period by knocking down three free-throws.
Willis made a layup and Washington continued his monster night by making two two-pointers and fivefree-throws.
The Bobcats would not go away quietly as Joseph Anderson scored and Vigers drained three buckets.
Fred Guillory and Shaun Hudson each scored on a layup and Joseph added a bucket but the Bobcats could not close the gap.
Washington led LaGrange (14-13, 2-2) with 31 points.
Vigers led Eunice with 20 points.
Eunice (2-17, 0-5) continues District 4-4A play on Friday at home against Rayne ( 18-11, 3-1).

In girls action, the LaGrange Lady Gators rolled to a 77-19 win over the Eunice Lady Bobcats.
The Lady Gators used balanced scoring in their hot start as LaGrange scored 29 points in the first quarter.
Players were involved in the scoring for the Lady Gators including two shots from Jeriah Warren, buckets from Alona Gray and Miah Alexis along with three-pointers from Aasia Sam and Alanna Stevens.
The Lady Cats three first quarter points were on a layup from Harmony Johnson and a free throw by Shaynia Toussaint.
LaGrange continued to dominate in the second quarter with 29 more points, led by Sam’s 11 points.
Warren also had three layups and Deja Tanks provided four points as LaGrange led 56-6 at the break.
Eunice’s struggles continued in the second frame as the Lady Cat’s points were on three Toussaint free throws.
The romp continued in the third quarter as LaGrange started off the half with buckets from Jeriah Warren and Gray, followed by scores from Sam and Alexis.
Toussaint again provided all of the scoring for the Lady Cats in the period with a three-pointer and two layups as EHS trailed 72-13 heading into the final quarter.
Amoni Crider provided all of the Lady Gator scoring in the period with a layup and two free-throws.
For the Lady Cats, Mckenzie Guillory nailed a three-pointer and Olivia Thibideaux made a layup as LaGrange won, 77-19.
Sam led LaGrange (25-3,6-0) with 18 points.
Toussaint was the top scorer for the Lady Cats with 11 points.
Eunice (3-14, 0-6) entertains Rayne (3-13, 1-3) as the Lady Cats celebrate Senior Night.
