Northwest sweeps Eunice

PRAIRIE RHONDE – The Eunice High Bobcats dropped a 55-46 decision to the Northwest High Raiders Tuesday night in District 5-3A basketball action.
Coach Chad Andrepont’s Bobcats took a 15-14 lead after one quarter and maintained a 26-25 lead at halftime.
The Bobcats pushed their lead to four points by outscoring the Raiders by a 14-11 margin in the third quarter for a 40-36 lead.
But the Bobcats lost the momentum in the fourth quarter, with the Raiders dominating play over the final eight minutes by a 19-6 margin.
“I just can’t figure out why we’ve been struggling in the fourth quarter,” commented Andrepont. “Last year we were winning those close game late in the game. We outplayed them for three quarters but just couldn’t close the deal.”
Carlin Vigers led the Bobcats in scoring with 15 points.
Malik Poullard finished with 10 points, while Brandon Ndubueze and Jude Sweep had nine points apiece. Tim Jones added four for the Cats.
August Pitre topped all scorers in the game with 22 points to lead the Raiders.
NWHS 71, Eunice 45
The Northwest Lady Raiders used a balanced scoring attack to earn a District 5-3A victory over the Eunice High Lady Bobcats by a 71-45 margin in basketball action Tuesday evening.
The Lady Raiders took control of the contest in the early going, building a 15-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. Seven different Lady Raider players contributed points in the quarter. Shania Malveaux led Eunice with four points and Stacie White added three points in the first quarter.
The Lady Cats scored ten points in the second quarter, but the Lady Raiders scored 12 points to extend their lead to 27-17 at halftime. In the third quarter, the Lady Raiders would outscore the Lady Bobcats by an 18-14 margin to increase their lead to 45-37 going into the fourth quarter. But the Lady Raiders would prevail in the fourth quarter, outpointing the Lady Cats 24-13 to secure the victory.
Keyshayla Jackson and Khahli Malone would score 12 points apiece to lead the Lady Raiders. Tashianna Fontenot added nine points for Northwest.
White finished with 22 points to lead the Lady Bobcats.
White hit seven field goals, including one from beyond the 3-point line.
Malveaux added nine points, while Shania Toussaint and Leah Walker had six and five points, respectively.
Eunice entertains Church Point Friday as district action continues.
