Top-ranked Vandebilt Catholic sweeps Berwick

Berwick High School fell to Division III’s top-ranked squad, Vandebilt Catholic, 3-0 (25-11, 25-10, 25-16) in Berwick Tuesday in both teams’ District 8-III action.
Alyssa Gray led Berwick with five kills, eight assists and 12 digs. Other top Berwick contributors were Hannah Henry, seven assists, two aces and 10 digs; Maci Broussard and Brittany Roberie, 11 digs apiece; Lauren Skinner, three kills, one assist and one solo block; and Morgan Toups, three kills, one dig and one solo block.
Berwick entered the matchup ranked No. 17 in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s latest Division III power rankings.
Berwick (14-12 overall, 0-1 in district) will return to action Thursday when it hosts Morgan City in district play.
MCHS falls to
E.D. White
E.D. White defeated Morgan City 3-1 (25-23, 18-25, 18-25, 14-25) in both teams’ District 8-III opener in Thibodaux Tuesday.
Morgan City came into the contest ranked No. 9 in Division III, while E.D. White was ranked No. 11.
Morgan City had six solo blocks in Tuesday’s loss.
Sh’Diamond Holly led Morgan City with 14 kills and five solo blocks. Other top Morgan City contributors were Jolee Nini, three kills, 27 assists and two digs; Allie Vincent, one assist and 12 digs; Kennedy Hebert, seven kills, eight digs and one solo block; Haylie Crappell, two kills and six digs; and McKenzi Smith, five digs
Morgan City (13-6, 0-1) will return to action Thursday when it travels to face Berwick in district play.
U-High sweeps CCHS
University Lab defeated Central Catholic 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-16) in nondistrict action in Baton Rouge Tuesday.
University Lab entered the match ranked No. 4 in the latest Division IV power rankings, while Central Catholic is No. 6 in the most recent Division V power rankings.
No individual stats were available from Tuesday’s matchup.
Central Catholic (19-11) will return to action Thursday when it resumes Division 6-V play at home against Covenant Christian.
Patterson falls to
Notre Dame
The Patterson Lumberjills fell on the road to Notre Dame in District 2-IV action Tuesday.
Notre Dame, which entered the game ranked No. 2 in the latest Division IV power rankings, won the contest 3-0 (25-12, 25-7, 25-6). Patterson is ranked No. 22 in the most recent Division IV power rankings.
No individual stats were available from Tuesday’s contest.
Patterson (5-9, 1-2) will return to action Thursday when it hosts West St. Mary in nondistrict action.
