VILLE PLATTE -- It was not a good night offensively for the Ville Platte High Bulldogs, as they took one on the chin in a 49-8 loss to the Kinder Yellow Jackets here Friday night.
With the loss, Ville Platte falls to 2-5 on the year and 0-2 in district play. The Bulldogs will travel to Crowley this Friday to take on perennial powerhouse Notre Dame.
The turnover bug bit Ville Platte hard in the first half of play, as everyone of the four turnovers committed by the Bulldogs led to Kinder points.
The Yellow Jackets got on the board first, taking their opening drive 65 yards in seven plays in only 2:07. The possession ended when quarterback Hayes Fawcett took it in from 12 yards out. With the extra point, Kinder led 7-0.
The Yellow Jackets scored again following a Bulldog fumble on Ville Platte’s first possession. Taking over at the Bulldog 36-yard line, Kinder moved to the Ville Platte 13-yard line, where the drive stalled. However, Zack Lafargue nailed a 30-yard field goal giving the Yellow Jackets a 10-0 lead.
Another fumble on the Bulldog’s ensuing possession was recovered by Kinder at the Ville Platte 10-yard line. Three plays later, Fawcett took it over the goal line from three yards out making the score 17-0.

However, Kinder’s Thomas Robertson picked off a Brandon Veazie pass at the Yellow Jacket 21-yard line. Kinder promptly drove the ball 79 yards in 13 plays, putting the ball across the goal line on a five yard run by Jordan Cordova, extending the score to 24-0.
The Yellow Jackets scored twice more in the first half, once on a 75 yard punt return and on a three yard fumble recovery.
