Tri-Parish workforce drops by 344

The Tri-Parish workforce dropped 344 jobs in July from July 2017, according to federal Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) released by the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
There were 69,864 people working or looking for jobs in July in St. Landry, Acadia and Evangeline parishes, down from 70,208 in July 2017.
The job numbers are not adjusted for seasonal factors such as weather and holidays.
The June report also counted a decrease in the Tri-Parish workforce over the year. In June, there were 70,062 people in the workforce, down from 70,780 people a year ago in June.

Tri-Parish unemployment rates are down from a year ago, but the workforce is slightly down compared the May 2017 numbers, according to Bureau of Labor and Statistics information on not seasonally adjusted employment rates released by the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
There were 68,787 people working or seeking jobs in St. Landry, Acadia and Evangeline parishes in May, down 0.3 percent from May 2017.
The workforce number includes people working and those looking for a job.

Tri-Parish workforce declines slightly, jobless rate down

The Tri-Parish workforce declined by 133 people to 68,743 in April compared to April 2017, according to statistics released by the Louisiana Workforce Commission and compiled by the federal Bureau of Labor and Statistics.
There were 3,558 people looking for jobs in April in St. Landry, Acadia and Evangeline parishes. In April 2017, there were 4,222 people in the job market — a 16 percent change.
St. Landry Parish’s workforce in April was 31,965, which is a 181 person decrease from the April 2017 workforce of 32,146.

Tri-Parish workforce stabilizes; Jobless rates down

The Tri-Parish workforce nearly matched that of a year ago as unemployment rates declined in the latest report from the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
There were 68,332 people either working or searching for jobs in St. Landry, Acadia and Evangeline parishes in February, which was 95 short of the February 2017 workforce.
The workforce includes a count of those employed and seeking employment.
For much of 2017, the Tri-Parish workforce lagged behind the previous year.

Unemployment rate declines for 8th month in a row to 4.6%

Louisiana’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased to 4.6 percent in December. This is the eighth consecutive month the unemployment rate has declined. Compared to December 2016, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate has decreased 1.4 percentage points. The last time the unemployment rate was lower was in March 2008.
