Jobless rates remain above a year ago

Tri-Parish unemployment rates as well as the state rate remain above those of a year ago.
The state unemployment rate in November was 8.1%, up from 5% a year ago, but down from 9.2% in October.
The report’s job statistics are not seasonally adjusted, which means they do not take into account factors such as weather and holidays.
November Tri-Parish unemployment rates are:
— St. Landry Parish, 8.8%, up from 6.5% a year ago and down from 9.9% in October.
Evangeline Parish, 7.5%, up from 6.1% a year ago and down from 8.6% in October.

Tri-Parish, state jobless rates increase

Tri-Parish unemployment rates rose in October compared to those in September and a year ago, according to statistics released Tuesday by the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
The report also shows the Tri-Parish workforce is relatively unchanged from a year ago in October.
The Tri-Parish workforce, which counts those working and seeking employment, totaled 68,637, up 599 or 0.9% from October 2019.
In St. Landry Parish, the October workforce totaled 32,670, up 582 or 1.8% over October 2019.

Tri-Parish job situation improves

The Tri-Parish employment situation improved in August with jobless rates declining and the workforce growing every so slightly, according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
The Tri-Parish total workforce in August was 68,452, up 395 or 0.6% from August 2019, according to the not seasonally adjusted employment statistics. Not seasonally adjusted employment statistics do not include factors such as weather and holidays.
The workforce includes those employed and those looking for jobs.

Tri-Parish job numbers remain depressed in July

The Tri-Parish unemployment numbers for July remained below those of a year ago as the coronavirus impact lingers.
The total workforce in July was 64,100, down 13% from the July 2019 workforce of 68,722.
St. Landry Parish’s July workforce was 29,333, down 10% from the July 2019 workforce of 32,672.
The Evangeline Parish workforce in July was 11,406, down 4% from the 11,882 counted in July 2019.
In Acadia Parish, the July workforce was 23,361, down 3% from the 24,168 in July 2019.
The workforce includes those employed and those looking for jobs.

Tri-Parish workforce shrinks 4.9% from a year ago

The Tri-Parish workforce in June was down 4.9% compared to a year ago even as coronavirus-battered unemployment numbers improved from May.
The total workforce in June was 65,577, down 3,346 from the June 2019 workforce, according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
The total workforce counts the employed and those looking for a job.
St. Landry Parish’s workforce numbered 31,046 in June, down 4..6% from June 2019.
Evangeline Parish’s June workforce was 11,312, down 7.5% from the June 2019 workforce.
