“Fe-fi-fo-Fum,” I smell the blood of a mortal one; Nope!” it’s just the “Such Fun” group having a “Monster Mash” at Oak Lane in Eunice.
If wearing costumes for Halloween scares the evil spirits away, the “Such Fun” group succeeded. On Oct. 23, they did clear the way for a successful pre-Halloween for everyone.
During the witching hours of 3 a.m. to 4 a.m., witch Anna-Bella (Pam Koch) usually used her magic of communicating with forest creatures. But today she rattled bones by directing the residents in a demonstration and sing-a-long of the old spiritual song “Dem Bones” assisted by “Ezekiel “(dry bones skeleton).
Sitting on the straw hat of scarecrow “Tillie Millie” (Izetta Darbonne) is “Jinx” her crow. He is always ready to assist in chasing demons and ghosts of the night.
Together they played a Quiz with the residents, guessing, “Which monster is it?”
A dowser and magic potion maker, witch “Hyacinth Pool” (Diane Duhon) was always ready to tell a few funny Halloween jokes, keeping her potions for unruly ghosts. Although “Auugh” her scary eyeball friend, did put a little fright into the audience.
Known for using her magical witches’ wand “Sorceress Shadow” (Cecile Duplechain ) casts her magic spell over the residents of Oak Lane. “Tillie Millie” and Gwen Gwendolyn “Gwennie”(Elaine Deshotels), the local Witch Doctor, assisted witch “Shadow “ in a skit and sing-a-long of the song “Witch Doctor”(Ooo-eee-Ooo-ah-ah.......).
“Moon Beam” (Martha Guempel) a daisy-picking flower child, is a peace loving hippie. But she isn’t all peace-loving when it comes to chasing and catching ghosts. “Sock it to me” turns into “Sock it to them”. By her having a wide range of experiences Moon Beam kept everyone mesmerized with her many scary stories.
Our Bumble Bee, “B B Buzzz--,” (Fran Guillory), has a Mighty Warrior Spirit.
We can describe her as Muhammad Ali did, “ She floats like a butterfly,” but “Stings like a bee.” This powerful sting takes down wayward ghosts and goblins. B B Buzzz---helped distribute treat bags to the audience while keeping One eye on “Elvira” (our traveling, crackling witches broom ).
Dancing the “Freeze” to CD “Monster Mash” was really a “Smash.”
The “Such Fun” group left the residents at Oak Lane with this “Witches Chant:Blessed angels From up above, Fill this place, With Joy and Love.”
