The annual St. Landry COA Mardi Gras Dance was held Monday afternoon at the Northwest Community Center.
Seniors danced to live entertainment by Big J. & The Zydeco Dog Pound and enjoyed refreshments and gumbo.
Awards and trophies were presented to the Most Traditional and Prettiest Costume, the King and Queen and the Best Dancing Male & Female.
Judges for the event were Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot, Gerald Greene of Opelousas Elderly Awareness; Theresa Stelly with La. Health Care Group; Vanilla S. Miller with Eunice Head Start; Ashlyn Deshotels of Grace Hospice; and Gwen Burney, retiree.
Mistress of ceremony was Lynn LeJeune. Judy A. Doyle is director of St. Landry Council on Aging.
Winning the trophy of Most Original Costume was Christy Manuel of Basile and the Best Female and Male Dancers award went to Shirley and Wallace Trahan of Port Barre.
Winning the Prettiest Costume was Olita Bordelon of Eunice.
James Shelburn and his wife Grace Shelburn of Springfield, Missouri, won the titles of King and Queen.
