A Black History program, ‘The Rise of Champions’

Eunice Junior High School was honored to have Dr. Alsan Bellard, a native of Eunice, as the guest speaker for the school’s Black history program themed, “The Rise of Champions,” held on Feb. 28.
Some students performed with a choir, led by Damien Papillion and Brandon Delaphous. They performed with the junior high band led by director Lawrence Sassau.
Students also performed an interpretive dance to poetry, some used their talents for public speaking as master of ceremonies for the event. Other students introduced speakers, and greeted guests. The school’s History Club, directed by Kathy Bollich and Brittany Ardoin, organized the program, along with the help of Principal Dwanetta Scott and Johnette Pitre. Claudette Castille, April Collins and Fran Lemelle assisted with the choir and performers for the event. (Submitted information and photos)
