The Bulb and Blossom Garden Club held its October meeting at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. This year’s focus will be “Pollinators – Attracting and Protecting with Native Plants”. The business meeting was led by President April DeRouen and included plans to place pink ribbons in the “Plant if Pink” area across from the Liberty Theater, during the month of October. This area was designated and planted several years ago by the Garden Club, as part of a National Garden Club project for breast cancer awareness. Pam Quirk, a member, gave a presentation that revolved around how pollinators impact our food source. She then demonstrated how items harvested in the fall could be used in horticultural designs, specifically pumpkins. Club members came with prepared pumpkins which served as containers for creative and unique floral designs. From left are Lynn Pavich, Ching Wasmuth, Pam Quirk and Elvonia Reed. (Submitted photo)
