The Jean Lafitte, National Historical Park Cultural Center hosted a kitchen demonstration Sept. 23. The guest home chef was Camille Reed, who prepared a nouveau Cajun crawfish pasta salad, which everyone enjoyed. Among a full house, were visitors from Eunice, Iota, Jennings, and tourists from out of state and country. Prior to the kitchen demonstration guests enjoyed music by Jamie Bearb, on fiddle, Kyle Matte, accordion; and Paul Fruge, on guitar. There were historical questions, discussions, and admiration about the cultural center building. Ironically, it was actually built in 1920 by The home host chef Camille Reed’s great grandfather, Mr. Theogene Reed, as his general merchandise store. Later in 1930s it was purchase by the L. G. Seale family, for the farm implement business. Then in the late 1980s the building known as Seale building became now known as Jean Lafitte Acadian Cultural Center.
