The 2020 fourth annual Parade of Paws was held Feb. 22 with 21 dogs registered. Fifteen dogs were in attendance for the parade.
Judging the dog parade were Kyle McFarlain of Raisin Canes of Opelousas, who donated tons of throws for the attendees; Nancy Elridge of Alexandria, a devoted animal lover and trainer of service of dogs for veterans; and last year first place winner Tiffany Wing Pedigo of Eunice.
Hannah Gumbo volunteered her artistic skills for the parade, and Mark and Becky Daigle of Eunice led the pack with a decorated golf cart and Sparky The Fire Dog was a part of the parade.
Jerica Guillory, founder and spearhead of the Parade of Paws, said there were many volunteers who helped and to make the Mardi Gras Dog event a success.
Guillory said, “We had a host of volunteers who made this another successful, family-friendly Mardi Gras event.
“Through registrations and individual donations, we are able to have three dogs vetted and altered, which will prevent lives from being lost by euthanasia in over-crowded shelters.
“We look forward to growing each year and helping more animals in need in Eunice.”
