Dream Teachers of Louisiana at Central Middle School

Lauren Schoeffler, a fifth-grade math teacher at Central Middle School, is one of 24 semi-finalist for middle school Louisiana Teacher of the Year, and holds the title of St. Landry Parish Middle School Teacher of the Year, was surprised Wednesday morning by a special visitor.
Aimee Barton of Dream Teachers of Louisiana paid a visit to Schoeffler to personally congratulate and commend her for her hard work, and dedication to teaching.
Schoeffler is a semi-finalist for Louisiana’s state middle school Teacher of the Year. and will be honored at the 13th Annual Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Symposium and Celebration on July 19 at the Crown Plaza Executive Center in Baton Rouge.
The event is co-sponsored by Dream Teachers, a statewide nonprofit organization who works with business, industry, and organizations across Louisiana to advance the teaching profession.
Dream Teachers’ common mission is to elevate teaching profession by recognizing and rewarding excellence in the classroom and attracting and retaining highly qualified teachers for all Louisiana students. Dream Teachers work towards goals; to raise public awarness of the teaching profession and its value to the state’s economic and social future; and advancing the cause of having a quality teacher for every child in every classroom state.
Other visitors, along with Barton of Dream Teachers, were St. Landry Parish School Superintendent Patrick Jenkins, and Director of Curriculum Angela Cassimere.
