Building just one change at St. Ed’s. Workers unload steel destined for the frame of the new classroom-gymnasium building at St. Edmund School. Skip Converse Construction of Pineville is the general contractor on the multi-million dollar expansion targeted for completion in late fall of this year.

Fireworks for the Fourth. A bouquet of color explodes over the Recreation Complex during the City of Eunice’s Fourth of July fireworks celebration at the Sittig Road facility. A capacity crowd watched at the complex while hundreds of others viewed the spectacle from other vintage points around the city.
Heading for state tourney. Wesley Guillory slides home with a run for the Eunice Broncos All-Stars in the district championship against Crowley. Eunice won, advancing to the state tournament which begins tonight (Thursday) in Duson. Winner of the state tournament will advance to the multi-state regional tournament.
St. Mathilda Summer Enrichment program. St. Mathilda Church is hosting its annual Summer Enrichment program each day from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. until July 17. The program offers children’s kindergarten through sixth grade ages, a fun time of songs, arts, sewing and other children’s activities. Cheyenne Papillion, 12, gets ready to sew a pillow. Her instructor is Deidre McClinton. Next week two Vacation Bible Schools will be offered. First United Methodist Church will host its annual Bible program from 9 a.m. until noon while Emmanuel Baptist Church will have its annual Bible activities from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
