The 50th season of the Eunice Players’ Theatre is set to hold auditions for this year’s summer musical, Godspell.
Auditions will be held at the Eunice Players’ Theatre, located at 121 S. 2nd St. in downtown Eunice, on Tuesday and May 16 at 6:30 p.m., May 18 at 10 a.m., and May 19 at 3 p.m.
Potential cast members should prepare a short monologue and one solo song. A Bluetooth speaker and a CD player will be available, so prepare instrumental music appropriately. Acapella auditions will not be acceptable. Anyone ages 18 to adult is welcome to audition for the numerous male and female roles. Since this is a reprisal of a show produced 25 years ago, former cast members are encouraged to audition and participate, as small ensemble roles will be available. Production of the nine-show run is set for July 15 to July 27. For more information, you may contact 337-580-2567.
Godspell presents a small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and hefty doses of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus’s life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus’s messages of kindness, tolerance, and love come vibrantly to life. Prepare for the timeless tale of friendship, loyalty, and love based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew.
Angie McBride, a member of the EPT Godspell cast from 25 years ago, is directing the production and is thrilled to be able to bring this beloved show to the stage again and would love to see all of you come and audition.
