First Baby of New Year born at Acadian Medical Center

Baby Darrell McAllen Shepherd was brought into the world at 3:59 a.m. on January 1 at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice, marking the first birth of 2017 at the hospital. Darrell, born to Darrell and Hope Shepherd of Point Blue weighed 8 pounds and 2 ounces and measured 20 inches. He was delivered by Dr. Kayla Fontenot and Hope’s doctor is Dr. Donnie Barnes. The hospital gifted the couple and baby with a large basket of baby items. Darrell was welcomed home by his older sisters Hensley Shepherd and Peyton Guillory. (Photo by Myra Miller)
