Kenneth “Super” Sonnier stopped by at The Eunice News office to show off a 50-pound watermelon. The red meat melon was picked from Smith County Melons in Mize, Mississippi. Mize is located 50 miles southeast of Jackson, Miss. Sonnier’s wife Linda Sue’s nephew Shannon Powell owns and grows 50 acres of watermelons, among other fruits and vegetables.
