Junior Auxiliary of Eunice celebrated National Junior Auxiliary Week, April 2-8. The annual celebration is a time to pause and thank the community, sponsors and volunteer members who work so hard year-round to make a positive difference.
The week began with the second annual Junior Auxiliary Easter Egg Hunt which had over 75 children gather at the Circle Park for games and activities and a meeting with Mayor Scott Fontenot to have the 2017 proclamation signed.
JA of Eunice has been a part of Eunice community since 1981 and has 20 members who donated over 500 hours in 2015 – 2016 to the chapter’s various projects. The chapter raises funds each year through the Annual Jingle Bell Rock-n-Run held in December and the upcoming 71st Annual Miss Eunice/Miss Teen Eunice Pageant on May 13 at the Eunice High Auditorium starting at 6 p.m. Interested in pageant, contact the junior auxiliary at jrauxofeunice@gmail.com
“This was an exciting week for us, because it gives us a chance to thank all of the citizens of Eunice for supporting us in this work, and to recognize our wonderful corporate sponsors who finance these projects,” Candace Reeves, public relations chairwoman, said. “The families and children we serve are so deserving and thankful for this assistance, and none of that would be possible without the support of the entire community.”
JA of Eunice is a part of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries (NAJA), a non-profit organization founded in 1941 with headquarters in Greenville, Mississippi. NAJA has 15,700 active, associate, and life members in 93 Chapters in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee.
