Keep Eunice Beautiful, along with John R. Guillory Insurance, partnered with the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center for a recycling workshop 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 8 during one of the center’s weekly Explore and Restore programs. KEB Director Donna Baltakis opened the workshop with a talk on the importance of recycling. Using a blender donated by the partnering sponsors, U.S. Park Ranger Angelle Bellard, the workshop leader, is shown turning scraps of discarded paper into pulp that can be recycled into paper items like bookmarks and Christmas cards. Others shown, from left, are William Ashford, Donna Baltakis, who is holding Katelynn Ashford, Lydia Huval, Laura Thibodeaux. The Prairie Acadian Cultural Center, located next to the Liberty Theater in downtown Eunice, is one of six sites of the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve.
