St. Ed students named winners at VFW event

St. Edmund Catholic School students participated in the VFW Post 8971 annual essay contest. The theme for the essay was “How I Honor Veterans,” for three fifth-grade students. Avery McGee, a senior, won first place at the local level, first place at district and fifth place at state for “Voice of Democracy essay. Jillian DeVillier, a sixth grader, won the VFW Patriot’s Pen award; and fourth grader Craig Dupre placed third in his category.
