St. Edmund named International Day winners at awards program

Every year sixth grade students at St. Edmund Elementary participate in a project for International Day. Each group has the opportunity to choose a country, and research it. They are required to write a report, produce detailed knowledge of the country, create a model representing the country, create ethnic costumes, and display pictures and information about the country on a presentation board.
On May 24 during the school’s awards program, International Day winners were named.
For outstanding knowledge of the country, Australia and Ireland winners are: John Landry and Henry Summerlin, Australia; and Ross Bertrand and Pierre Berzas, Ireland.
For outstanding model of the country Russia winners are: Daniel Seth Brown and Grant Miller.
For outstanding effort in creating ethnic costumes, Brazil, winners are: Seth Aucoin, John-Logan Floyd and Ian Rider.
For most unique display, France, winners are: Jillian DeVillier and Ava McDavid.
The top three awards for International Day were awarded to the group of students that created an outstanding overall project, including display board, model, costume and interview: Third place overall, Jamaica, winners are: Zachary Cormier, Jace Miller, Emile Soileau.
Second place Overall, United Kingdom, winners are: Wesley Newsom and Kaden Thompson.
First place Overall with the country France, winners are: Jillian DeVilllier and Ava McDavid.
