St. Landry Council on Aging Mardi Gras Dance

The St. Landry Council On Aging, Inc. held its annual Mardi Gras Dance from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Northwest Community Center in Eunice.
A crowd of Seniors, 60 and older, enjoyed live zydeco music provided by Big J & The Dog Pound, ate gumbo, King Cake and had punch.
Different Mardi Gras awards were presented to The King and Queen, the Most Traditional Costume, Most Creative Costume, The Best Female Dancer, The Best Male Dancer.
Judging “The Best of the Best” were Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot, Vanilla Susie Miller of Eunice Head Start, Robert “Bob” Soileau, Eunice retired banker; Gwen Burney, retired financial analyst; Gerald Greene, Opelousas Elderly Awareness; and Theresa Stelly, LHC Opelousas Group.
Winning Mardi Gras King Melvin Propst and Queen was Patricia Propst of Jefferson City, Missouri.
The Most Traditional Costume and Creative Costume awards went to Jon and Sue Hanson of Mahomet, Illinois. The Prettiest Costume trophy was awarded to Olita Bordelon of Eunice, and The Best Male and Female Dancers award went to Shirley and Wallace Trahan of Port Barre.
