Student of the Year named at Central Middle School

Kaylee Fontenot is the Fifth grade Student of the Year at Central Middle School. The fifth grader honor student arrived to the middle school campus from Eunice Elementary.
Fontenot has maintained honor roll since first grade. She has earned numerous awards, one for ACE (Awesome Conduct Everyday) for every grading period since kindergarten. She has earned President’s award for Education Excellence in third, and fourth grade, has reached AR goals every school year, earned Math Cat award.
Fontenot was named Student of the Month in third, and fourth grade, and received recognition for high achievement on LEAP test.
“However, my greatest academic accomplishment is working hard and never giving up when school gets tough. Being a good citizen and having good character are important to people who strive to be leaders in their community. Throughout my school years I have worked hard to demonstrate positive character and leadership abilities,” said Fontenot. Fontenot received the Character Counts Citizenship award for two consecutive years at Eunice Elementary. She was selected as a student reader for Black History Month in her fourth grade year.
Fontenot is active in the community where she assists with fundraisers and community projects within her church youth group at St. Thomas More Church and at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Fontenot is a Jr. Beta Club member, and a yearbook club member,
Her hobbies include four years in softball, seven years in dancing and three of those years she was involved in dance competitions. She placed first in CDA St. Thomas More annual art contest. She participated in the VFW Patriot’s Pen Contest, and was a social studies fair participant.
Fontenot is the 10-year-old daughter of Casey Comeaux and Justin Fontenot of Eunice.
