VFW Post 8971 presents service awards to community leaders

Every year the Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W. Post 8971) honors community and civic leaders in Eunice for their outstanding hard, dedicated work.
“All of these people in charge, one way or the other on the job force, doing their work, and sometimes going without noticed, or appreciated, need to be honored and recognized. This event is one way for us to give back and show appreciation,” said Roger Veillon, post commander at the VFW Post 8971.
The VFW also recognized and honored its veterans with Commanders Awards.
The banquet meal and recognition event honored many service leaders in Eunice.
Commander Veillon honored the following:
Stephanie Manuel Teacher of the Year at St. Edmund Elementary School; Herral Johnson-Veteran of the Year; Brent Reinhart was named EMT of the Year; Dusty Edwards-Fire Fighter of the Year; Law Enforcement Officer of the Year awardees were Terry Darbonne and Eddie Thibodeaux;
The Commanders Golden Award went to Gene Young.
The Commander award recipients were Micah Crader, Jasper Manuel and Donald Estillette.
