Zeta Amicae attend leadership workshop

Members of the Zeta Amicae of Opelousas recently attended the annual Southern Regional Zeta Amicae Leadership Workshop held in Houston, Texas hosted by the auxiliary there. Amicae Lee Edwards of the Opelousas Auxiliary is the Southern Regional president and presided over the sessions. During the session, Macala Broussard, a graduate of Welsh High, and one of the applicants of the Opelousas Auxiliary was the recipient of the $1500 Southern Regional scholarship and Lyric Kennedy, a graduate of Eunice High, received the local $500 scholarship.
Broussard will be attending Northwestern State University and Kennedy will attend LSU in Baton Rouge.
Also attending the leadership workshop were the following members, Amicae Katherine Allison, Paula Anderson, Laura Balthazar, W. Jean Celestine, President; Dorothy Fruge’, Lena Ledet and the Sigma Upsilon Zeta Chapter sponsor Beverly Reynolds. One of the highlights of the workshop was the recognition of each auxiliary by its sponsoring Zeta Chapter with a special tribute to show appreciation for the work they do in the community to further the sorority’s idea of service and love throughout the community and where it is needed.
