Bertrand takes leadership role at Washington State Bank

Washington State Bank announced recently that its Board of Directors has appointed Kip Bertrand as its new chief executive officer / senior executive vice president.
Bertrand recently served as president, chief executive officer for another financial institution for over nine years.
“I look forward to joining a locally-owned community bank offering modern and efficient systems to provide excellent products and services to its customers. I intend to carry on the tradition and vision established by Mr. Nolan and Vergie Soileau and carried out by Ms. Sue with ambition and grace. Her devotion to her staff, customers and community is evident given the success of Washington State Bank over the years.” Bertrand said in a news release.
The news release also stated, “Kip is a proven leader in the banking industry and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team. He has great business vision and the ability to bring people together.”
Sue S. Durand, president and chairman of the Board, has served in the role of chief executive officer for the past 11 years. “Having worked with Mr. Bertrand for more than 10 years on various committees within the parish, I know that Kip is the right leader for the bank. His appointment as our new CEO will grant me more time to spend with family while still being involved with the bank as president and chairman of the Board.” Durand said.
