The Bulb & Blossom Garden Club of Eunice, representing District VII, won top awards at the Louisiana Garden Club Federation Conference held in Alexandria on April 9-10.
Jean Johnson, who has written a twice-monthly column published in The Eunice News, won first place for public relations. Johnson wrote more than 50 columns concentrating on gardening advice.
Johnson also won third place for the Deep South Garden Club relations.
The club won the first place Valerie Barnum Civic Development Award for the club’s tree marker project.
The club’s awards also included:
— Club Achievement, gold with ribbon;
— Special Conservation, gold; and
— Arbor Day, gold.
Representing the garden club at the conference were members Celeste Gomez and Mona Redlich. Donna Baltakis is president of the Bulb & Blossom Garden Club in Eunice.
