Donna Baltakis, director of Keep Eunice Beautiful, recently received word from Cabell R. Mouton, programs and affliate coordinator of Keep Louisiana Beautiful, that she was chosen as the recipient of the Circle of Excellence Award.
As part of the Keep Louisiana Beautiful Affiliate Support Program, the Circle of Excellence Award of $500 is given to an affiliate that meets certain standards; good standing with KAB, attendance at the state conference, attendance at a regional meeting, participation in three of the six bi-monthly affiliate conference calls and participation in the Great America Cleanup, and Leaders Against Litter and America Recycles Day.
Baltakis fit the bill, as she will receive the Circle of Excellence Award and a $500 check during the awards banquet at the State Conference in Baton Rouge on September 19 at the Hilton Capital.
Baltakis who serves as director of Keep Eunice Beautiful for the past five years and also received this same award last year. The first Circle of Excellence Award was presented in 2016.
Baltakis said that as she is honored and humbled to receive such an award, she claims she could not do it without the entire community’s efforts. She added, “We still have a long way to go, but we are making a difference.”
Mayor Scott Fontenot is pleased to have Eunice recognized, as the need continues everyday to keep Eunice beautiful and clean. Fontenot, added, “Without Mrs. Baltakis and her strive, energy and volunteer efforts to keep litter off the streets and her drive to get everyone, including all of the community, schools, clubs, organizations, churches, and individuals involved in helping to clean our streets, businesses, yards, this award of excellence would not become a reality. Myself and Mrs. Baltakis would like to express a big Thank You and appreciation to all involved with the cleanliness of our city.”
